So there are 7 companies where executives are being targeted for pay and bonus reductions because those private enterprises took federal bailout money. I suppose, on the surface and without giving this much deep thought, that makes pretty good sense. They were “bailed out” by the government, nee the taxpayer, so why shouldn’t the government have a say in how those bosses get paid.
Here’s why: because this kind of policy will eventually lead directly to unbridled tyranny, that’s why. The law of unintended consequences is about to jump the shark.
Last year 52% of the entire American population received some sort of check or subsidy support from the federal government. That’s more than one of every two of us.
So the argument is that because the government has a financial connection they should have a say in how to pay the employees. Hmmmmm, really?
What about people who get student loans or student subsidies from the government. These days most students get one or the other. Because the government has a financial connection to these people should the government now dictate where these kids should go to school, or what majors they should study, or what teachers they can use, or what student housing they can live in, or how far away from home their school can be located?
What about people that get a rent or mortgage subsidy? Now that the government has a connection should the government be able to tell these people where they can live, how many rooms their house can have, how much electricity they can use, what appliances they’re allowed to have, how many televisions they can have, and all the rest? Hey, will they even be allowed to even live in a house? Maybe just an apartment or maybe just a shared living arrangement.
Over 40% of the people in this country already get health care directly form the government or subsidized by the government (and with the threat of nationalized medicine everyone might have their health care subsidized). Should the government now be able to dictate the kind of food these people eat, or how much food they can eat, or how many hours per week vigorous exercise is required, or how much alcohol or tobacco can be consumed, or how much everyone is allowed to weigh, and on and on.
What about people that get energy subsidies or grants form the government, and with so-called “clean renewable energy” that means every American. Will the government be able to dictate the thermostat settings in your house, or can the government actually control and change the settings whenever they want? How many cars will you be allowed to own and what kind of cars will you be allowed to buy? How far from home will you be allowed to travel? How far from work will you be allowed to live? And on and on.
You get the point.
This is what happens when we start to let the government’s “foot in the door” to our lives. This is an invitation to extreme tyranny, like the kind they have in dictatorships all over the world.
Right now the Congress and the Obama administration is taking this “pay-control policy” to the least sympathetic among the corporate world; CEOs on Wall Street and in the financial sector of the economy. But once the foot is in the door, just like what always happens, the innocent policy begins to take on a life of it’s own and then liberty and freedom are permanently lost.
Before you cheer for the “comeuppance” of the present “scoundrels”, think more deeply about what can happen in the future, the very near future.
Is it possible that the President of the United States is at war with the United States? Is it possible that the Democratic Party is actually a criminal enterprise?
These must certainly sound like outrageous accusations, but let us examine some of the facts, regarding our nation’s economy, during the past 6 months and see if those descriptions apply:
Barack Obama’s actions will literally triple the accumulated national debt to more than all of the combined debt from Presidents George Washington to, and including, George W. Bush. Even the Congressional Budget Office has indicated, as recently as July 16, 2009, that the debt being accumulated through these actions is unsustainable and threatens the very existence of our national government,
In one year, 2009, his budget deficit will more than quadruple, to $1.8 trillion, the next highest single year budget deficit,
Once those many trillions of new dollars are in circulation the stage will be set for an inflationary period that will devalue our currency, destroy savings and retirement and turn accumulated wealth into worthless paper,
Since his inauguration, the “official” unemployment rate increased from 7% to 9.5%. However, once all of the part-time workers and those not looking for jobs within the previous 4 months are included into this equation, the unemployment rate then actually jumps to 17%, and in some states even reaches 20% or more, figures common in socialist western Europe but not seen in this country since the Great Depression,
He has promoted actions in which the government has declared bankruptcy law “void” and changed the rules so that investment, capital spending and job creation have completely stalled to a halt. There are no incentives for people to start new businesses or expand production and with job producing “small businesses” the prime target of the bulk of new personal and corporate taxes.

By using unconstitutional machinations, the government of the United States has taken over 2 car companies, 1 multi-national bank and 1 multi-national insurance company and injected itself into the free market and is threatening other industries including energy, pensions, college loans, insurance and transportation, among others,
With the eager assistance of his minions in the Democrat controlled Congress, he has begun a process to nationalize the health care industry in this country so that, eventually, all medical decisions will be made by a Politburo and carried out by faceless bureaucrats at an additional “conservative” cost estimate of over $1.5 trillion in 10 years,
Along with his Democrat minions, has proceeded with a plan to control all energy production and usage which will affect everything from food pricing, to buying and selling houses, to thermostat settings and the number of toilet flushes. A government that controls carbon dioxide controls YOU,
New plans being developed will completely open the borders and grant amnesty to all comers, thereby creating economic havoc and further driving up costs while cultivating new loyal Democrat voters at the taxpayers’ expense,
Barack Obama has created as many as 30 czars, and there may be more on the way. Each of these has enormous government power, and answers only to the president. These appointments violate both the constitutional system of checks and balances and the constitutional separation of powers, and are a clear attempt to evade congressional oversight. They essentially provide him with what amounts to dictatorial control.
Through his connections to ACORN, other militant anti-American organizations funded by George Soros and other rich Democrats has created an atmosphere in which elections are stolen and the threat to free speech and the independent media are compromised.
And there’s more, without even mentioning a foreign policy ashamed of everything this wonderful and courageous country has stood for over the last 200 years.
Everything we love about this country is under assault, but it’s an assault from within.
The President is elected as a temporary caretaker. He is not a “King”, he was not elected to change our culture into some concept that is all his own. He is supposed to “………preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” That is all he is legally empowered to do, yet actions that have been taken or proposed would fundamentally change the nature of the American government and its society and culture.
It is time for us to begin the process of taking back our country now. That means more than just voting for Conservatives or Republicans. That’s important, but it’s not enough.
It’s time for us to become “Super Citizens.”
It’s time to understand all the facts, to pay attention to what’s happening at every level of our national, state and local governments.
It’s time to talk with your friends and relatives and neighbors and coworkers and others, to educate them about what’s happening and what the stakes are.
It’s time to be active with likeminded people, to go to activities and be a part of organizations that support the values that will save our country from something very dark, very fearful and very sinister.
It’s time to act in a way that guarantees your children and grandchildren will enjoy the blessings of this country, the way you and I have, so their lives are even better and more fulfilled in their futures.
This is a “call to arms” to all those that love liberty. It is a call to join forces. Each one of us does not have to act alone. We need to act as a single force to save the country we love.
But we have to ACT!

So now the president has given himself the power to cap greenhouse gases. He also apparently has the power to tell private companies how much they can pay their workers. He can also nationalize the banks, nationalize health care, and nationalize the auto industry. The president can tell each of the 50 states he’s going to order electrical lines to be pulled over any land he wants and they can just shove it if they don’t like it.
The president can attack any private citizen he wants, by name, and can get the mainstream media to do all the dirty work for him. The president can dictate what kind of cars are going to be made and by whom. The president can manipulate the census to say anything he wants it to say. The president can demand that governors take stimulus bailout money whether they want to or not. The president can steal my income, redistribute it to anyone he wants and use “doublespeak” to call it a “tax cut.”
The president can marginalize virtually every cabinet department, whose chief is accountable to the American people, by installing “czars” for almost everything directly in the White House. There’s a car czar, an energy czar, a health czar, a banking czar, an education czar, and on and on and these people are accountable only to the president because they’re chosen outside the Advise and Consent provisions of the Constitution.
The president can tell you which light bulb you can use, how many times you can flush, what temperature you can keep your house, and on and on.
NONE of this is allowable under the Constitution of the United States. None of it. This is all unconstitutional. The president is not a king or dictator. He does not have this kind of power under the Constitution yet it’s all being done without as much as a whimper. Why?
Because this is what you get when you install a “living Constitution” where there are no rules, they’re just made up as we go. This is an abomination to the Constitution written and ratified in 1787.
Here’s a scenario: What if the Dow drops to like 3000 or less (and that could definitely happen) and BHO goes on television and says this is so bad he’s going to ask Congress to allow him to nationalize all private industry in the country and maybe even set up martial law with a 10:00pm curfew throughout the country. And Congress votes to give him that power because, you know, there’s a national emergency. And by a 5 to 4 vote the Supreme Court says it’s all “Constitutional”. Then it’s over. And just such a thing can happen because there are essentially no checks and balances and we have a “living Constitution”.
None of this is Constitutional my friends. We’re losing our wealth. We’re losing our country.
The attached Business Week link is a pretty good discussion of the market and all that, and it paints a very bleak picture. Unfortunately it’s pretty long and requires more than just a few minutes to read. But if you want to know stuff you should read it.
But of course I have my own analysis which is this: BHO doesn’t give a hoot if the market goes further down and in fact the further down it goes the better. Through all of his words and speeches he has attacked capitalism, business, free markets and everything that makes our country work and has done everything he can to pit one class against another. All of his actions and policies to date are anti-business and anti-job creators. This is capitalism v. socialism and he’s a socialist.
The further down the market goes the greater the panic in the streets and the more people will “demand action”, any action to make the pain stop. Once everyone has suffered tremendous loss of wealth they’ll “need the government” to tend to their needs and desires since they won’t be able to afford anything themselves. This is BHO’s strategy. It’s no accident that the market is being destroyed. Will we break below 6000? Would you bet it won’t?
By raising taxes on all business, big and small, and by threatening nationalization of industries he has made the free market environment so unstable that no investor or business would risk hiring anyone, or expanding a factory, or spending money on R & D or any of the other stuff that makes capitalism work.
Destroying business, coupled with destroying personal wealth, will make it necessary for the “government” to step in and take over. Welcome to Cuba!
