We are no longer a serious nation‏

December 2nd, 2009 . by joel

Here’s a story that should make blood shoot from your eyes.  Three Navy SEALs are going to a court martial in January for the crime of punching a terrorist in the stomach.  And the evidence against them is the word of the terrorist.  Are you getting this?

There is something very bad happening to our country.  We are completely losing our sense of “right” vs. “wrong” and maybe even “good” vs. “evil”.

Who was the terrorist that was punched?  You might recall back in 2004 that a terrorist group in Fallujah, Iraq ambushed four Blackwater guards and murdered them. After that their bodies were burned, dragged through the city and then two of bodies were hung from a bridge for the world to see and photograph.  Ahmed Hashim Abed, the man captured by the Navy Seals, was the leader of that terrorist group.

Some hours after he was captured he alleged to a group of Iraqis that he had been punched, and that’s where we are today.  A terrorist makes a claim of merely being punched, in a war zone and while in the act of being captured mind you, and three American warriors are placed in career ending jeopardy and perhaps even worse.  Instead of being hailed as hero’s these SEALs are arrested.  Is this crazy, stupid or diabolical?  This can only be characterized as one or more of those, right?

We are clearly living in some sort of “bizarro world” in which enemies are victims, down is up and yes is no, no?  Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 massacre, is provided constitutional rights and a world-class pulpit from which to denounce America. The CIA intelligence officers that waterboarded KSM and got him to spill his guts about Al Qaeda and other terrorist plans, which included the plot to fly planes into buildings in Los Angeles, are put on criminal trial.  The attorney general, Eric Holder, tells a Senate hearing that there are terrorists that have been captured, and others that will be captured, that were read Miranda warnings and that may eventually include Osama bin Laden himself.

Just a few weeks ago an Islamic terrorist attacked and killed 13 soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas and the President of the United States essentially refers to it as merely an unfortunate incident instead of what it was.  When he first reported the attack to the nation it was only after first joking with some Native Americans attending a meeting in Washington.  In fact, the Army Chief of Staff says on national television that the incident’s biggest loser, in effect his biggest worry, is that the “ethnic diversity” of the military could suffer.

A few months earlier an Islamist terrorist attacked and killed an Army recruiter in Arkansas and there’s virtually no media or political discussion about it at all, other than some perfunctory mention of it in the evening news.  And the examples of stupidity and dangerous behavior by our dear leaders go on and on.

Fighting a war is dirty business.  As George Orwell once said “….we sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those that would do us harm.”

The defense of our nation requires a special breed of operative or warrior to undertake dangerous and thankless missions, most of the time for which they get no glamour or glory.  Judicial proceedings like this against the SEALs, while providing terrorists with the full rights and protections of an American citizen, proves that our leaders have stacked the deck against us, that there now exists a disturbing difference between the people of our country and the elites of our country and something needs to be changed.  One can only hope.

A country that prosecutes its heroes and protects its enemies is not a serious nation.  And that’s all there is to it.

Bill Clinton 1993 “….the economy will fail without health care reform”‏

November 17th, 2009 . by joel

In his 1993 State of the Union speech Bill Clinton stated emphatically that the economy would collapse without passing health care reform that year.  If you see the video below you’ll see how energized his remarks were, how the sky was about to fall, that everything we knew would cease to exist and all that.

The same goes for Barack Obama.  Everything will fail unless we do what he says…..and it must be done immediately.  Health care reform, bailouts, stimulus plans, more stimulus plans, trillions upon trillion and on and on and do it immediately, it must be done immediately.

But our warriors are presently fighting in Afghanistan and need reinforcements for the “necessary war” and the dithering goes on.  Always contemplating to “get it right”.  The hand-picked field commander and the genius who won the war in Iraq both say they need reinforcements to win in Afghanistan and this “community organizer” and disciple of Saul Alinski, who surrounds himself with self-avowed communists, Maoists, Marxists, NAMBLA supporters and other miscreants says he’s thinking.  Of course none of his kids are fighting in Afghanistan.  So the “other parent’s” warriors fight, and sometimes die, and the president’s thinking.  Thinking about what?

If anyone believes I’ve mischaracterized the president or his minions please let me know.

Democrats and the Fort Hood Terrorist Attack

November 12th, 2009 . by joel

Now here’s the deal.  The FBI knew that Nidal Malik Hasan had communicated with a radical imam nearly a year before the attack at Fort Hood but concluded he was no threat.  In fact they said his contacts, with a known supporter and collaborator of the 9/11 terrorists, were “fairly benign.”  Now more information is coming out that Nidal Malik Hasan was fully engaged in radical thoughts and beliefs and apparently did nothing to hide his support for jihad and fellow Muslims who take up arms against “infidels”.

Yet no action was taken against him.  How can that be?  Haven’t we spent the greater part of the last 8 years preparing for the next terrorist attack?

In hindsight it’s all crystal clear.  Nidal Malik Hasan was a killer waiting to happen, a quintessential terrorist waiting to murder as many people as he possibly could before being sent off to meet his 72 virgins.  Given all that was known, well before his terrorist attack, why wasn’t he preemptively stopped?

Actually, when you think about it, it’s easy that it was missed.  What has been happening politically in our country over the last 8 years?  Every single effort has been made by those on the political left and the Democrat Party specifically, to cast the terrorists as victims and our military and intelligence services as outlaws.  They have even tried to eliminate the words “Islam”, “terrorist”, “Muslim extremist” and others from the lexicon of acceptable official political use.  Since the attack on 9/11 the democrats have raised issues with intelligence gathering, the methods used to extract information from the bad guys, and casting doubt on even the existence of fundamentalist Islamic radicals.

They have chosen to criminalize CIA intelligence officers and paint the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay as merely “unfortunates” picked up on the battlefield and just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, nothing more.  Amazingly enough, democrats Barack Obama and Eric Holder have even directed the Justice Department to take action to decide if the CIA officers who waterboarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, should be held criminally liable.  Is this unbelievable?

The democrats want to treat these barbarians as common criminals and have them tried in American courts rather than by military tribunals, as would normally be the custom in war for those picked up out of uniform.  In fact, why are they even being given a trail, in any court, at all?

The democrats have tried over the last several years to defund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their leadership has compared our soldiers to thugs, killers in the night, and terrorizers of women and children (see John Kerry) as well as comparing them to Nazi storm troopers (see Dick Durbin).

In this toxic and dangerous political atmosphere, poisoned by the Democrat Party and others on the political left, how could an FBI agent or intelligence officer or military commander not be confused about how to react to Nidal Malik Hasan’s aberrant behavior?  How could they correctly interpret his actions as potentially evil and malicious and hostile to Americans when the political establishment of the Democrat Party are telling him, through their words and deeds, otherwise?  And even if someone had the foresight to take some action, why would they?  What if they were wrong?  What could happen to their career?  Who among us, given the potential for the personal disaster of being labeled a racist, would want to take that risk?

There is clearly a fatal reluctance to recognize evil in the Democrat Party and that reluctance directly led to the first terrorist attack on American soil since September 11th.  If for no other reason, these people need to be turned out of office.

Why No Testimony From McChrystal‏

October 9th, 2009 . by joel

Aren’t you disgusted already with the politics?  Don’t we deserve substance and honesty and insight and action based on what’s in the best interest of the people of the United States?  Now there’s a concept!

By a raw political count of 59-40, completely on party lines, the Senate democrats voted NOT to summon General Stanley McChrystal to a hearing on his request for more troops and the strategy he believes is required to defeat the enemy in Afghanistan.  Why don’t they want to hear what he has to say in the same forum in which they contemptuously summoned General David Patreaus?  Do they not care?  Or are they afraid to hear what he has to say?  You make the call, which should be quite obvious.

The Democrats thought they’d be able to embarrass Patreaus and, in effect, destroy George W. Bush’s plans for a surge in Iraq.  Unfortunately for them, the general turned out to be brilliant and had a plan that worked.  And that plan was in the best interests of the people of the United States.

So what’s the deal now?  It’s obvious the Senate democrats only want to see McChrystal fail, the president talks to David Letterman more often than to his hand picked general, and the liberals have no problem with the United States going down to a defeat at the hands of an embolden terrorist threat.  Is any of that in the best interests of the people of the United States?

Doesn’t that make you want to puke?  If not, why not?
